Partners with low-income families and individuals living in substandard housing to build decent, affordable housing. HC's housing and repair programs involve an application process. Note: not all applications are guaranteed to be accepted &/or approved. Once qualified and accepted into the program, potential homeowners will help build their homes alongside Habitat staff and volunteers. Upon completion, the potential homeowner then purchases the home with a lower-interest loan through a gov't or other entity. Currently building in Port Angeles—through 2026. Habitat Clallam will also begin a multi-year build in Carlsborg, WA in late 2025-early 2026.

The Volunteer Chore Services program provides a variety of support services for low-income disabled adults and seniors aimed at allowing them to remain in their own homes as long as safely possible. Services are provided by volunteers, and may include a variety of tasks essential to independent living, including essential transportation, yardwork, laundry, and similar services (depending upon volunteer ability).

Promotes voluntary stewardship among landowners in Thurston County. Conservation districts are voluntary, non-regulatory legal subdivisions of state government that administer programs to conserve natural resources. Offers free and low cost services such as: - conservation planning, - soil testing, - equipment rentals, - cost share and technical assistance with conservation issues throughout the county. Also offers a variety of educational tours and workshops, some topics include: - pasture management, - nutrient management, - noxious weed ID and removal, - native plant ID, - shoreline living, - prairie habitat and more. Hosts several volunteer events, including the annual Native Plant Sale and restoration work parties throughout the community. Home to South Sound GREEN, a watershed education program for students grades 4-12.

Offers volunteer opportunities in various areas including shelter ministries (Bible studies with clients, tutoring, grading study materials, hair cutting, chapel participation, and driving men and women to essential appointments), administration (newsletter, special mailings, and events), meals (preparation and serving food, cooking, setting up dining room, washing dishes, cleaning up dining area after meals), miscellaneous (appointment schedulers for clinic, maintenance, sewing, Christmas gifts, and construction), warehouse (recycling, driving, testing and repair of major appliances and furniture).  Accepts electronic donations such as: computers, towers, laptops, monitors, and televisions. Will pick up donations on some cases.

Rebuilding Together offers home repairs and ADA modifications free of charge to qualified low income homeowners living in Thurston County. Qualified applicants must be disabled, military veterans, seniors (62+), or families with young children. Typical work includes: - installation of wheelchair ramps and grab bars, - hot water tank replacement, - stair and porch repair, - plumbing leak repair, - gutter and floor repair.

South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer driven organization serving families and communities in Thurston County. Volunteers are at the heart of the important work we do! It doesn't just take a hammer to build a house- our biggest volunteer need is help at our Habitat Stores!

Accepts donations for time, money, and goods. Accepts donations for supplies including baby items, children's needs, gas vouchers, blankets, personal care items, emergency food, camping supplies, including tents, sleeping bags, etc. Does not accept furniture or large household items. All donations are accepted and will be dispersed among other local non-profits if we cannot find a need.

Habitat's goal is to end substandard housing. This is accomplished by building houses with donated funds and volunteer labor. Sells the homes at cost with no-interest mortgages to families who are qualified for the program and who have earned or completed their sweat equity. Principle payments are used to build more homes.  The process starts and ends with families.  The family selection committee works hard to select families that have a demonstrated need, ability to pay back the no interest loan, and a willingness to partner back with Habitat and the community.  Once a family is selected, a family support committee assists the family throughout the building process and the duration of the loan, which may be 30 years.  The building committee builds the house with input from the family. Donated materials and volunteer labor along with the no-interest loan make a quality house very affordable.  Habitat can build a $175,000 home for about $125,000 by donations of time and money. Mortgage payments are usually $600 per month or less, affordable even for a family living off a minimum wage.

Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity and is a great way to get involved in your community and to make new friends. Habitat for Humanity Whatcom County brings together individuals and groups from all backgrounds to work to ensure that all families in need have a decent, affordable home.   We would love your help both on and off the jobsite.

Work with kids to make things like tool boxes, and work benches from pre-cut kits. Teaches the value of community and serving others. Focuses on kids under the age of 16. Typically classes are a couple hours long.

New houses are built through contributions and volunteer labor and are then sold at cost to carefully screened families who pay an interest-free mortgage. Sponsor volunteers can join their company and Rebuilding Together South Sound for National Rebuilding Day or one of our other Rebuild Days. Sponsorship companies get priority project placement. Community volunteers can join Rebuilding Together South Sound for our Fall Rebuilding Day the last Saturday in October or Veterans Day the second Saturday in November. We are always looking for volunteers who work in the construction industry to support our repair programs – specifically general contractors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, roofers, and HVAC technicians. We would also welcome volunteers to support some of our administrative work including scanning client files, helping with mailings, and other office tasks. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a 4 hour time block, once per week, for at least 3 months. Please note - we do not have capacity to support time bound volunteer needs such as graduation requirements or court ordered volunteering.

Provides minor home repair assistance to low-income Mason County residents.  Volunteers provide assistance with ramps and other minor home repairs to keep the home safe.
