Information and assistance in accessing mental health or chemical dependency services. Up-to-date information is maintained on a variety of community agencies as well as private service providers. Inquiries and referrals are welcome from individuals, family members, or community providers.

Provides help to veterans in accessing VA and community services. Services may include short-term case management, onsite primary care, access to medical, mental health, and substance abuse treatment, and access to VA housing programs, including Grant and Per Diem program, HUD/VASH, Veterans Recovery House and Supportive Service for Veteran Families (SSVF) if found eligible. These grants do not provide immediate assistance, are sometimes one-time, and may include case management. Help with finding market rate or subsidized housing or linkage to community housing programs. Assistance with expediting VA Benefit claims and access to employment programs such as Supported Employment, Veterans Reintegration program, and State employment. Access to computers, clothing, and hygiene items is available onsite.

Provides several helplines and treatment locator tools, including: - SAMHSA's National Helpline (Treatment Referral Routing Service): Provides confidential treatment referrals and information about mental and/or substance use disorders, prevention, and recovery. - Disaster Distress Helpline: Connects callers to the nearest crisis center for information, support, and counseling to deal with the aftermath of natural or human-caused disasters. - Behavioral Health Treatment Services Locator: Lists alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment facilities and programs. - Opioid Treatment Program Directory: Lists programs that treat addiction and dependence on opioids. - Buprenorphine Physician & Treatment Program Locator: Lists physicians and treatment programs authorized to treat opioid dependency with buprenorphine. - Screen4Success mobile app helps coach difficult conversations about drugs, alcohol, and mental health.

Provides behavioral health screening, counseling services, and referrals to available mental health and substance use recovery providers for ongoing care and other support. Gives phone-based support to those waiting for counseling appointments, and follow-up referral care. Calls are answered by clinicians.

Options for veterans seeking treatment for substance use problems, including individual and group therapy and medications to help clients reduce alcohol, tobacco, and drug use. VA providers know that, in many cases, substance use problems are continuing conditions that require care over a long period of time. For other veterans, substance use problems may be resolved more quickly with attention paid to related problems. Such related problems could be post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems.

Provides harm reduction services and wrap-around support for people accessing syringe exchange. Offers one-to-one exchange of clean syringe equipment, along with health education, wound care, and naloxone for overdose prevention. NARA NW Youth Program services include life skills training, Project Venture, methamphetamine and suicide prevention, and cultural groups and activities. Referrals to other NARA services are available through the program, such as substance abuse assessment, mental health counseling, outpatient substance abuse counseling, family counseling, and wraparound care for Native youth ages 13-24 who have multiple needs. NARA NW's Youth Program is prevention-oriented and family-focused. The aim is to help Native youth develop a positive identity by teaching them about Native American and Alaska Native culture and values.
