Residential Treatment Facilities (RTFs) serve adults age 18 and over diagnosed with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders. Services include assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication monitoring, case management, counseling, groups, mental health education, crisis resolution, and skills training regarding activities of daily living. The program focuses on helping residents reach increasing levels of recovery in order to successfully transition back into the community.

Through Keller House and our residential treatment program. Kitsap Mental Health Services offers caring, effective mental health services in a 24/7 residential setting for adults 18 and over. Participation is voluntary, and people may stay in the 16-bed residential treatment setting for up to 30 days, although some beds are provided for longer term care. To access this service, individuals must be enrolled with KMHS outpatient services, and be referred for the residential treatment center’s services. The Residential Treatment Center provides a combination of supportive services designed to help people return to their families and their communities equipped with the skills needed to successfully manage life’s challenges. Personalized treatment plans offer a wide continuum of services and seek to assist individuals to continue their daily activities with the safest, least-restrictive level of intervention possible.

Provides assessment and admission for inpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment, which includes acute and sub-acute withdrawal management as well as brief adult psychiatric residential care. The fully voluntary unit offers 8 withdrawal management beds and 8 behavioral health diversion beds. Services include medication management, detox, addiction treatment, family education, meals/ snacks, and discharge planning/after-care coordination. Pick-up transportation for admitting clients is available.

Specializes in clients who wish to transition into the community as well as those who require long-term care. Clients are encouraged to assume as much responsibility as possible in the areas of independent living. To assist with this goal, our program consists of daily activities following the rehabilitative model.

Intensive congregate care program provides 24-hour case management, therapeutic milieu, training in adult living skills, development of employment or educational opportunities, symptom management, medication management, group therapy, medication support, family support and advocacy. A client is also eligible for PHP (prepaid health plan).  Agency provides DBHR-certified service(s). There are 16 beds available.

Operates 5 apartment complexes providing safe and affordable housing in the community.  Most of our apartments are two bedroom and are therefore shared with a roommate.  All apartments are completely furnished and supplied with all kitchen utensils, linens, small appliances.  Lake Whatcom Center works with the Bellingham Whatcom County Housing Authority to help clients with rental assistance and subsidies.

Offers residential services for adults with severe mental illness. Offers room and board with three meals and snacks daily, individual counseling, group therapy, skill building classes, leisure activities, nursing service, individualized treatment, medication assistance, management and education, psychiatric prescribing, crisis intervention and support, and a variety of additional services tailored specifically to the individual. Offers Medicaid-funded residential treatment program, as well as City of Tacoma-funded programs primarily available to individuals who are unfunded (without income or insurance).
