KCLS offers homework assistance in several ways.    Study Zone: Volunteer tutors provide free homework help at KCLS libraries. Works in partnership with Kent Meridian and Rainier Beach High Schools to offer year-long after-school academic programs to all newly arrived refugee youth in high school. Classroom Assistants and students meet weekly to complete homework assignments, tackle the senior research project, and complete important college application paperwork, such as the FAFSA. Time is divided into classroom instruction, individual and group work, mentorship, educational workshops, and access to scholastic resources.   Both sites feature Classroom Assistants who focus on assisting students as they participate in academic activities to improve their reading and writing skills and increase their knowledge of college and career readiness. The program strives to provide the information, resources, and access to opportunities to meet and exceed grade level standards, while completing high school graduation and college application milestones in order to graduate on time and with plans to pursue post-secondary education. Also provides opportunities for students to participate in civic and community engagement projects to build their leadership skills as well as to complete service learning requirements for graduation.

Provides after-school programs for children in grades K-5 and full-time enrichment programs during school breaks. Programs include academic enrichment, homework assistance, nutritious snacks, outdoor play and other activities geared toward students' social-emotional and academic skills. During school breaks, full day care is offered.

Provides a before and after school program based out of local community centers, as well as school districts for students in K through 12th grades. Offers academic and enrichment opportunities for students and their families before school, after school, and during the summer. The program's goals are to increase student academic achievements in: math, reading, English, science, students’ engagement and commitment to school, health/fitness and nutrition awareness, technology, arts, music, theater, and robotics. Also serves the families of participating students in conjunction with the school’s Action Team Partnership committees (ATP) to or their local community to create special events, family engagement nights, and educational community opportunities. Provides a program where members can relax after school, make new friends, have fun and interact with positive adult role models.  Facility is equipped with foosball, air hockey, bumper pool and ping-pong tables, Legos, chess, board games, a reading and homework room and a gym for part of the day.  Power Hour matches kids with tutors during an organized homework period and provides study space.   Middle and high school students have their own teen space.   Transportation is provided by most north end public schools.

Power Hour Power Hour is a mandatory hour where members work on their homework and school related activities.  Power Hour encourage youth to be responsible for their homework and academic success by providing them a quiet environment in which to complete their homework.  Adult and youth volunteers provide homework help and tutoring to encourage members to become self-directed learners.

Staff and trained volunteers provide distance and in-person small group instruction in reading, writing, math, High School + diploma, GED, and/ or academic skills upgrade to prepare for training, college, or work.  Students' goals and priorities are incorporated into instruction. Digital literacy and employability skills are incorporated into instruction. We offer in-person, hybrid in-person and distance, and some distance options. We serve out of school youth age 16yrs and older. If you are under 19, you must have a signed release from the HS or district where you live. We work to provide individualized study plans along with small group experiences in order for students to get a full range of support and encouragement to be on the path to their education, work, and life goals.

Provides after-school educational tutoring and enrichment programming for residents of six low- and mixed-income housing communities in Seattle. The program includes reading, academic skill building and homework help in structured one-to-one tutoring sessions. Tutoring centers are staffed by education professionals and volunteers. Tutoring is available onsite for students who need academic assistance and are living in one of the six participating housing communities. Call for more specific site location information.

Provides an after-school program for East African refugee and immigrant students living in the Greater Seattle area. Provides before and after-school sessions Monday through Friday who are in need of support with homework assistance, tutoring and mentoring.  Parents bring children to the before-school session and return in the evening to pick up their children. Children are transported to and from Beacon Hill International and Kimball Elementary schools by van and they participate in academic as well as cultural activities.

Coordinates intervention services for elementary and middle school students in North Central Washington who are at risk of dropping out. Provides resource coordination, individual student support, and school-wide programming in partner schools. As of December 2022, Communities In School of North Central Washington has partnered with the following schools in North Central Washington: Orondo Elementary, Waterville (K-12), as well as 6 schools in the Moses Lake School District - Larson Heights Elementary, Longview Elementary, North Elementary, Park Orchard Elementary, Peninsula Elementary, and Endeavor Middle School.
