KCLS offers homework assistance in several ways.    Study Zone: Volunteer tutors provide free homework help at KCLS libraries. Provides after-school educational tutoring and enrichment programming for residents of six low- and mixed-income housing communities in Seattle. The program includes reading, academic skill building and homework help in structured one-to-one tutoring sessions. Tutoring centers are staffed by education professionals and volunteers. Tutoring is available onsite for students who need academic assistance and are living in one of the six participating housing communities. Call for more specific site location information.

An after school program that supports children in Monroe. Twice weekly, children kindergarten through 5th grade meet together to have a healthy snack, play games and do crafts, meet in small groups to focus on some academic and social/emotional learning, then come back together for a short lesson of the day that focuses on their mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing and learning.

Trains and places community volunteers in elementary schools to empower young students with strong literacy skills.  Works one on one with students to help increase their rate of learning.

Power Hour and Tutoring is a homework assistance and tutoring program available in the club library for youth in grades 1-8. Computer Lab offers computer skills classes and open usage for Club members in grades 1-12.  Project Learn is a hands-on tutoring and mentoring program available in schools.  Homework, field trips and higher education activities are available for grades 1-12.

Coordinates intervention services for elementary and middle school students in North Central Washington who are at risk of dropping out. Provides resource coordination, individual student support, and school-wide programming in partner schools. As of December 2022, Communities In School of North Central Washington has partnered with the following schools in North Central Washington: Orondo Elementary, Waterville (K-12), as well as 6 schools in the Moses Lake School District - Larson Heights Elementary, Longview Elementary, North Elementary, Park Orchard Elementary, Peninsula Elementary, and Endeavor Middle School.

Youth Programs at Room One consist of both education and direct service advocacy. The education programming supports schools, service providers, and youth with comprehensive health education and teacher training, healthy relationships workshops, and leadership development. The direct service work consists of direct advocacy work with youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness, parenting, sexual violence, and other issues related to a lack of resources.

Provides a program where members can relax after school, make new friends, have fun and interact with positive adult role models.  Facility is equipped with foosball, air hockey, bumper pool and ping-pong tables, Legos, chess, board games, a reading and homework room and a gym for part of the day.  Power Hour matches kids with tutors during an organized homework period and provides study space.   Middle and high school students have their own teen space.   Transportation is provided by most north end public schools.

We have volunteers who can help K-12 students with math, science, English, social studies and science. Students without homework can read and play learning enrichment games with trained tutors. You can get Homework Help most days during the school year, except on weekends and school holidays. No reservations are needed just come to the Library during Homework Help hours and bring your homework assignment and textbook. If our volunteers do not know an answer, they will help you find it. Do not worry if you do not have all the supplies you need. We have many things available that you can use, like graphing calculators, markers, paper, pencils, and a laptop. When you come to the Library for Homework Help, let us know what you need – there is a good chance we will have it.

Provides after-school programs for children in grades K-5 and full-time enrichment programs during school breaks. Programs include academic enrichment, homework assistance, nutritious snacks, outdoor play and other activities geared toward students' social-emotional and academic skills. During school breaks, full day care is offered.

Coordinates a variety of programs to educate and develop youth and their skills.   - Power Hour: A homework help and tutoring program which offers separate sessions for grades 1-6 and 7-12.   - BE GREAT Graduate: Program for high school students. Provides 1:1 mentoring to those enrolled, assisting them on getting their homework finished on time, tracking grades for each of their classes, addressing school absences, and assisting with college applications, etc. Partners with local high schools.   - Club Read: 2nd and 3rd graders who need assistance in learning to read are matched with teen reading coaches for an 8-week program that runs three times per year.   - Smart Kids: For grades 1-5; assists youth with developing skills and knowledge to avoid alcohol and other drugs.   Computer access and basic computer skills tutoring is available.

Operates an out-of-school time program at three NTPS school sites before school, after school, and during the summer. Engages in a variety of activities designed to improve both academic and social skills. Workshops focus on STEM, life skills, and critical thinking. Additionally, youth explore their cultures, languages, and identities through the A.R.B.O.L. curriculum. Offers a dedicated Family Liaison who works closely with families and students to ensure they have all the resources and support they need to succeed in school. This includes assistance with communication, community resources, and support in areas such as rent assistance, utility bill help, and other essential needs. The Family Liaison plays a crucial role in ensuring families have access to what they need to help their children succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Provides before- and after-school child care programs. Before-school program offers breakfast, quiet activities, art projects, gym games, computer time and game room activities. The after-school program combines children by grade with a trained counselor. Together they participate in age-appropriate activities. A nutritional afternoon snack is offered daily. Non School Day Camp is available for all school breaks.

The After School Program provides year-round enriching activities designed to support youth in their academic, social-emotional, and life skills development. Offers a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where students can thrive academically through personalized assistance, targeted literacy development, diverse enrichment activities, and access to technology. Beyond academics, the program promotes social-emotional well-being and life skills through a variety of recreational indoor and outdoor activities, including amateur sports teams such as basketball, flag football, and soccer. These team-based sports provide opportunities for youth to build teamwork, leadership, and resilience while staying active and engaged. Additionally, field trips and enrichment groups further support personal growth and foster a sense of community and belonging. During the summer, the Summer Splash program combats the "summer slide" by reinforcing literacy and math skills to help students maintain and improve their academic performance. Also partners with the Kent School District to provide free summer lunches for youth under 18 at all three program locations. The program operates at three King County Housing Authority sites. Each community recreation center features computer labs, activity rooms, teen spaces, and a variety of recreational and educational programming to create a well-rounded experience. Students also receive healthy snacks to stay energized and focused. The program focuses on key life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience, while fostering both soft and durable skills. With the guidance of positive adult role models, youth are empowered to overcome challenges, build confidence, and succeed academically and personally.

Works in partnership with Kent Meridian and Rainier Beach High Schools to offer year-long after-school academic programs to all newly arrived refugee youth in high school. Classroom Assistants and students meet weekly to complete homework assignments, tackle the senior research project, and complete important college application paperwork, such as the FAFSA. Time is divided into classroom instruction, individual and group work, mentorship, educational workshops, and access to scholastic resources.   Both sites feature Classroom Assistants who focus on assisting students as they participate in academic activities to improve their reading and writing skills and increase their knowledge of college and career readiness. The program strives to provide the information, resources, and access to opportunities to meet and exceed grade level standards, while completing high school graduation and college application milestones in order to graduate on time and with plans to pursue post-secondary education. Also provides opportunities for students to participate in civic and community engagement projects to build their leadership skills as well as to complete service learning requirements for graduation.

Provides a school-age childcare program for students enrolled at the John Stanford International School.  Activities include supervised play, homework completion time, cooking, arts and crafts projects, group games, science activities, snacks, and other continuing projects.

Provides K-8th grade students with a safe and supportive environment to socialize and develop life skills. The program includes STEAM activities, social-emotional learning, hands-on education workshops, sports and recreation, leadership skill development, and monthly field trips.
