Provides financial assistance to youth in care and youth aging out of care to attend an accredited college, university, vocational or technical college. The maximum award students can receive is $5,000 per academic year. Awards are based on the Cost of Attendance formula established by the student's college and any unmet need they may have within their financial aid award. Awards may help pay for tuition, books and supplies, housing, transportation and other eligible educational expenses.

Household income must be below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. Provides up to 45 credits of tuition and $1000 per academic year for books.

Serves individuals who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families from DSHS who are enrolling in adult education classes or ESL classes. Worker Retraining: Provides options for unemployed or underemployed workers to access education and training to maintain employment or to re-enter the workforce. Students may be eligible to receive unemployment benefits while attending school and not participate in job search activities if the training meets criteria. Offers assistance with tuition and books for one quarter. Funding for subsequent quarters depends on availability of funds. Must be eligible for unemployment or exhausted unemployment within the past 48 months or be a displaced homemaker, or a military veteran discharged within the past 48 months.

Provides scholarships for students and families who otherwise might not consider college as an option because of its cost.  The amount of the scholarship will be based on tuition rates at Washington public colleges and universities and will cover the amount of tuition and fees (plus $500 for books) not covered by other state financial aid awards.   Students promise to graduate from high school, demonstrate good citizenship and seek admission to a college or university.   Family income will be re-checked and college admission confirmed after the student graduates from high school.   Scholarship awards can be applied toward a certificate or degree from a Washington public, community or technical college, an approved independent college or university, or private career school.

Provides a variety of programs to help students prepare for college level courses or the workplace. Offers classes in Yelm, Olympia and Lacey. Adult Basic Education Provides basic classes for English, Math and Computers. These classes do not count as college credit but students are more prepared for college classes and the workforce. Courses offered in person or online. Basic Computer Skills Provides a low-cost, non credit course to help people improve their computer skills. Includes basic computer operations, email, zoom, canvas, Word, PowerPoint, keyboarding and more. English as a Second Language (ESOL) Offers six levels of classes to help non-native speakers of English improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. High School+ Allows students age 18 and older to earn a high school diploma. It is a competency based GED alternative and meets the requirements for a high school diploma for employment, financial aid applications, and admission to a community or technical college. Traditional GED prep classes and testing are also available. I-Best Allows students to increase literacy and work skills. Two instructors are in the classroom, toe to teach the professional/technical skills, and the other instructor teaches reading, writing, math or English language.

The primary focus of the program is on post-graduate/undergraduate education or vocational/technical training for dependent children of active duty service members. Assistance may also be provided to children of deceased service members, active duty service members enrolled in commissioning or college degree programs.

WCC offers degree programs approved by the Washington State Approving Agency for the enrollment of those students who are eligible under Veteran Administration (VA) Education Benefits programs. Eligible veterans and dependents of veterans must apply for admission to the college and should contact the WCC's VA office as early as possible before enrolling.  Staff in WCC's VA office submit applications for benefits to the Veterans Administration on behalf of students and certify their quarterly enrollments.

This can be through financial assistance, basic needs/resource support, job placement assistance, or academic planning. There are various tuition assistance programs designed to support a student's personal and professional goals. If qualified, students may receive funding for tuition fees, textbooks, required supplies, transportation, and more. Each program is unique and provides additional assistance for students. Basic Food Employment & Training Program: Provides tuition, fees, required textbook and transportation funding for recipients of federal food assistance (Basic Food or SNAP) to increase employment opportunities. To qualify, students must enroll in an eligible training program and meet the eligibility criteria. WorkFirst: Provides tuition, fees and required textbooks for students who receive cash assistance from the DSHS Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, need training prior to working and have received approval to participate in WorkFirst from their DSHS case manager. To qualify for the WorkFirst program, students must enroll in an eligible training program and meet the eligibility criteria. Worker Retraining: Provides tuition, fees, required textbooks and sometimes transportation for laid-off and dislocated workers who need training to return to the workforce. To qualify for the Worker Retraining program, you must enroll in an eligible training program and meet one of the eligibility criteria. Provides the opportunity for TANF recipients to attend Shoreline Community College by paying for tuition, fees, and books for eligible low-income parents.   TANF recipients can obtain a GED, increase job skills, earn a certificate, or enter a new career.   WorkFirst staff is available to discuss educational and employment goals.

Assists Native American students in applying for and attaining financial aid for education purposes.

Provides tuition/books, advising, career and education planning, job search assistance, and resources and referrals. Worker Retraining, WorkFirst, Opportunity Grant, and BFET programs available.

Provides timely emergency or crisis relief for eligible veterans and/or eligible family members. May be able to assist with - Deposit: (Residence or Utilities) one time only - Education: Tuition Assistance, books and equipment - Medical / Dental / Optometry: Once per year 12-month period - two times total - Rent or Mortgage: Once per year, no more than 2 consecutive times total - Transportation reimbursement for travel to VA or other Medical Facilities and local bus tokens. - Utilities including power, water, garbage, and propane with proof of shut off Assistance is granted on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed. It is not intended to provide continuing assistance on a routine basis.

Supports comprehensive employment and training activities while helping clients get the trainings and certifications needed to build a sustainable career, including: -Job counseling -Academic counseling and assistance -Referrals and placement -Support with applications to government benefit programs, such as unemployment and SNAP -Employment-related training Training/Education Incentive:  Individuals entering an accredited college or vocational school program may be eligible for tuition assistance.  Proof of registration and paid fees will be required.    Referrals:  Staff may provide referrals to apprenticeship programs and help clients with job searches.   Support Services:  Upon completing the Workforce Readiness class and finding employment, clients may be eligible for supportive services at the discretion of the Director of the Employment and Training Department.  These services may include: -  Transportation allowance -  Food allowance -  Shoes   -  Work clothing (if required by employer) -  Other reasonable job-related expenses   Summer Youth Employment Experience:  Limited number of work experience positions are available during the summer months to eligible high school students.  Interested parties should contact the WIA office in January for more information. Offers Seattle office of labor ordinance and standards training for Seattle workers.

Financial assistance is provided as part of a client's service plan. - Financial assistance for housing expenses (e. g. , rent, mortgage), eviction prevention, move-in expenses, transitional housing and shelter expenses. - Financial assistance for medical expenses, medical aids/equipment and prescriptions.
