Offers guidance to middle and high school students and their families seeking alternative school programs. Assists students and families with finding an education program that meets their needs. Alternative learning options available to Highline students include Innovation Heights Academy, Open Doors programs, GED programs, community college/career programs, online classes, and more. Assesses student transcripts, grades, attendance patterns and other individual needs before sitting down to a meeting with a student or family seeking a new school or learning environment.

Basic education and career preparation program for youth ages 16-21 who never completed high school.  Pays for tuition, books, and supplies. Candidates who complete the intensive program receive either a technical Certificate or Degree.  Individual case management is provided.

Many students are working on their GEDs, and can work with staff in figuring out the next steps for education or training. Staff work with students to re-engage them in the educational process, remove barriers to education, and prepare students for the next stages of their life. Can help students access transportation, emergency food, housing, clothing, and helps with GED testing, college placement testing and certification classes.

Offers multiple pre-college programs. Adult Basic Education for adults who may have experienced educational gaps, missed the opportunity to develop certain skills or missed necessary steps in their education. Students may work on basic reading, writing and mathematics, career exploration and college readiness skills.   ESL offers six levels of English and additional support classes. General Education Development helps students prepare for the four-part GED test. Successful completion of the four-part test (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies) earns a GED certificate. GED certification is equivalent to a high school education and is usually accepted in place of a diploma.   High School Completion provides an opportunity for students to earn a high school diploma in a college setting, substituting college classes for remaining high school requirements. College level classes may be taken to fulfill both high school and college degree requirements at the same time.

Offers a high-school credit retrieval or GED program to students who have dropped out, been suspended or expelled from school.   Students earn high school credits that can be transferred to another school.

Offers a high school completion program for students ages 16-21 who no longer attend traditional high school.   Helps students complete a diploma and make the transition to post-secondary education. Participants work full-time on their academic or vocational training and transition to college technical programs or to become employable.   Students may earn dual credit for high school completion and college credit.   Provides opportunities to work on academic skills, personal development, and make progress towards a high school diploma during their enrollment.   Provides high school completion courses and classroom experience preparing students for academic success and a transition to college programs.   Offers opportunities to explore career and educational options while building academic skills and exploring college programs while earning a high school diploma.

The Open Doors program is for youth aged 16 to 21 who have either dropped out of high school or on the verge of dropping out and are interested in returning to school and completing their high school diploma. Students simultaneously accumulate high school and college credits, earning their high school diploma while progressing toward a certificate or associate degree. Students selected to participate will receive a scholarship for tuition and books

Offers mentorship, education and employment assistance for youth and young adults.

Reconnect to Opportunity is a re-engagement program that supports young people in King County ages 16-24 years old reconnect to education and employment systems. Outreach Specialists work with youth who have experienced educational and professional barriers throughout their journey. They work within the community connecting young people to programs that support youth and young adult-centered needs and growth. Our participant referrals come from various sources: self-referred, parents/guardians, community organizations, and school staff. Our goal is to ensure youth are connected to opportunity no matter their background. Our core beliefs are that everyone deserves a second chance, positive relationships are essential, and there is more than one path to success. Some of the areas that we provide support with are: looking at different re-engagement programs that are most beneficial to the young person’s lifestyle and learning style, helping youth enroll in a program that best fits their needs, connecting youth to resources that may support other needs (college navigator, case manager, mental health services, etc.), providing initial guidance to employment services and internships, providing a warm handoff when looking into different programs, providing post-secondary resources after high school completion.

Offers an academic and life-coping intervention program for every high school in the state. A National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program in partnership with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Academy is FREE to disengaged youth residing in the State of Washington. Since the program’s inception in 2009, the WYCA has graduated nearly 4000 students. Our vision is to provide youth at risk of dropping out (behind in credits or disengaged from school) with the opportunity to change through personal growth in positive values, life coping skills, and job skills training. Helping youth get back on track toward a quality education, the program incorporates a highly structured, quasi-military format, with an emphasis on student discipline and personal responsibility. Class cycles begin every January and July. Students attend the 5 ½ month residential program and return to their school with eight to twelve credits to use towards on-time graduation. The WYCA connects graduates with volunteer Regional Advocates from their hometown and assigned Academy staff, both of whom monitor and support the graduates’ action plans for 24 months – assistance highly valued by school counselors.

Offers students the opportunity to continue working to earn their diploma in a small, supportive environment. Most classes are offered through online software with 'live' teacher support in the classroom.   Students are required to attend class in person a minimum of three hours per week and work on classes at home another twelve hours every week.   Students may attend class any time on weekdays. Offers small class sizes and individual tutoring.

Provides support and scholarships to inspire under-served, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life. CEO program provides tuition and fees, books, bus passes, career exploration, academic advising, GED prep classes, as well as education and training towards a certificate or transfer degree at Bellevue College. Also provides a course offering for non-native English speakers.

Offers educational services to young adults who left high school without earning a diploma.   Students receive free professional/technical career training, job placement assistance and financial assistance for related expenses such as transportation.
