Processes complaints regarding safety of vehicles, tires, parts and child restraints; maintains searchable recall and defect investigation databases.
Processes complaints regarding safety of vehicles, tires, parts and child safety seats. Accepts safety-related defect complaints as a first step for individual vehicle owners to receive any no-cost manufacturer repair to which they are entitled. Also compiles individuals' complaint submissions, to determine where safety-related defect trends exist. Requests and orders manufacturer recalls when appropriate.
Maintains searchable recall and defect investigation databases.

Operates legal clinics providing free 30 minute consultations with an attorney at multiple locations across King County. As of 9/2024, most clinics are telephonic, but there may be limited in-person availability in Seattle and Kent. Details will be provided to clients during intake screening.
Clinic attorneys can:

Lemon Law Arbitration Program offered by Washington State Attorney General's Office in Seattle
Operates an arbitration program for claims against vehicle manufacturers regarding defective new motor vehicles. Does not cover problems caused by abuse or neglect, or any modifications or alterations. Complainant cannot stop making payments while pursuing a claim.
Operates an arbitration program for eligible claims against vehicle manufacturers regarding defective new motor vehicles.
Offers information on the lemon law, such as:
- What qualifies a vehicle as a lemon
- How to submit a request for arbitration
The Lemon Law does not allow a consumer to stop making loan or lease payments while pursuing a Lemon Law claim.
It also does not cover problems caused by abuse or neglect, or any modifications or alterations made to a new vehicle after the original retail sale or lease. If the dealer made a proper written disclosure, the Lemon Law will not cover options or modifications requested as part of the purchase or lease. Consumer requested modification sometimes are not authorized by the manufacturer and may void all or part of the manufacturer’s warranty.

Pro bono attorneys work with staff and volunteer interpreters to give consultation and legal advice around family law, immigration law, landlord-tenant disputes, employment law, and other areas.
