Meals on Wheels offered by Sound Generations
Delivers frozen meals to the homes of adults ages 60+ years in King County. Clients can order up to 14 meals per week and choose from several menu items, including liquid nutritional supplements. Program has a three-month waitlist.
Delivers meals to older adults in King County. Provides a choice of 30 plus different meals including breakfast, kosher, vegan, and vegetarian. Additionally, some meals are low in saturated fat, low cholesterol, and low sodium.
Seven meals can be ordered per week and are delivered once a week. Liquid nutritional supplements (Ensure and Glucerna) are available for purchase. Meals arrive frozen and packaged in trays that can be heated in either a microwave or conventional oven.
Service begins approximately 1 to 2 weeks after agency receives the application.

This particularly helps people who cannot cook for themselves and depend on outside help, are injured, disabled, or otherwise cannot prepare food. Volunteers make it possible by using their own car to pick up meals at a meal distribution center, delivering the meals to local residents' doors, and collecting and returning old trays that were used to hold hot meals.

Welcome Home Program offered at Lifelong
Delivers healthy, home-cooked meals to participants' homes within 24 hours of discharge from the hospital. Program also includes wellness check phone calls over 30 days from the first meal delivery. Must live in South King County.
The Welcome Home program is a limited, four-week program for people being discharged from the hospital. Clients receive fourteen medically tailored meals within forty-eight hours of hospital discharge; meals are delivered for four weeks. Clients are also offered nutrition services with a Registered Dietician (RDN) during this time period. Welcome Home meals assist clients in their medical recovery, decrease hospital re-admissions, and improve health outcomes. Eligible clients can transfer into regular home delivery if they are eligible and funding exists.
Meals are cooked in a commercial kitchen, frozen and delivered weekly. Meals meet the guidelines of the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association. Also has special meals to provide for dietary restrictions (please see below). Meal Options: - Healthy Standard - this is our regular meal category, but it is also appropriate for anyone with diabetes or heart disease. - Easy Digestion - this category is designed to meet the needs of those struggling with ongoing diarrhea, GERD, or gastroparesis. - Dialysis Care - this category meets the specialized needs of our clients on kidney dialysis. - No Gluten/No Dairy - these meals are the best choice for those with gluten intolerance, celiac disease, or lactose intolerance. - No Pork/No Beef - if you prefer to avoid beef or pork but enjoy chicken and fish, this may be a good category for you. - Vegetarian - these meals contain NO meat, fish, or poultry (but are not vegan). For clients who struggle with chewing or swallowing, any of the above meal categories can be made into a soft texture (very finely chopped).
