Eligibility

Adults returning to school after a break of several years, or those who are seeking to improve academic skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, math, computer use, and academic skills before starting college degree or certificate programs. Justice-involved students who are transitioning out of incarceration. New English language learners or those who are looking to improve their English language skills.

Description

Offers courses to help students who have been out of school for years or have not finished high school. Courses help students - Improve their English language skills. - Earn a high school diploma or GED. GED courses are available in Spanish and English. - Improve skills in math, writing, computer basics, and reading. Math and computer classes available in Spanish and English. - Start earning college credit and prepare for career training.

Skagit Valley College is a two-year community college serving Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties in northwest Washington state.  With a focus on excellence: access, achievement, and community, SVC's district includes the Mount Vernon Campus in Mount Vernon, the Whidbey Island Campus in Oak Harbor, the South Whidbey Center in Langley, and the San Juan Center in Friday Harbor.  SVC grants transfer degrees, technical degrees, and certificates.  The academic transfer degree and several workforce education degrees can be completed entirely online.  In addition, SVC provides students with a variety of support services including admissions and registration, advising, career services, financial aid, and tutoring.
