Description
- Provides maintenance and development of disaster plans, preparedness programs for residents, and identification of facilities which handle hazardous materials. - Offers information about disaster preparedness, neighborhood programs and disaster awareness presentations. - Residents in incorporated cities are encouraged to contact their local city emergency management agency. KCOEM supports preparedness activities in unincorporated King County. - During disasters, operates an Emergency Operations Center where officials from many disciplines come together to coordinate and direct activities which may help save lives and protect property. - The EOC gathers, analyzes and distributes information; serves as the central hub for coordination of response and recovery activities; manages resources; and provides a link between local and state governments. - After a disaster, call to report the extent of your damages or loss.
